    Question:
How can a person who has these type of documents and accusations about them ever be allowed to run for any type of political position? Let alone become the president of a country (twice)?

      Wasn’t it something like:

      • 1/3 voted in favor of him
      • 1/3 voted against him
      • 1/3 couldn’t be bothered

I prefer a third voted against. A third voted for. And a third enabled it to happen, either by protest or ignorance.

My FIL is a Die Hard Conservative. He refused to vote for Trump… and Harris. He didn’t vote for either to “send” a message. I told him a bigger message would be to vote Democratic but he “could not” bc they are forcing kids to be transgender. I told him to prove that and he could not but he saw it on Faux New or News Min and it had to be true.

I asked him if he knew Faux News was settled on a 750 million dollar defamation case for the lies spread about Dominion voting sustems. He did not and said the 2020 election was a fraud… you can’t get through to these people

It’s because legally, having a criminal record doesn’t disqualify you from running. There isnt anything preventing this. Most likely its to help prevent a minor mishap from long ago condemning your future abilities (otherwise, you’d have all sorts of small charges against every politician to destroy their career. It would make the worst blackmail material).

Now, morally why did enough people vote for him anyway is a whole different issue that I don’t have an answer for.

It’s also so that someone can’t weaponize law enforcement on their political opponents. So let’s say you’re president. You come after me on a bogus charge. I’ve now got a record. I can no longer run against you.

        Morally, I agree entirely.

Crazy to me, that, this is all true, I can become the president, can’t vote for it. Assuming it’s a felony.

Edit: I have educated myself, and this is not the case. I am not a felon, do not have any experience lol I’ve just, incorrectly, heard, that you can’t vote if you’re a felon.

Yeah, felonies are more complicated and on a per state basis. A lot of media has flattened it into this binary thing.

I know loads of adults with no “minor mishaps.” It’s not just normal to have a criminal record, they had no reason to do that. They just assumed no one was dumb enough to vote for criminals

I know plenty of people with records. Few of them are white. Fewer still are white, cis, straight, and ablebodied.

If you look a certain way or dress a certain way, law enforcement tends to look for opportunities to harass or arrest you. So no, I don’t think it should be illegal to hold office as a felon. (I’m also against felons having their voting rights taken from them.)

I will belittle anyone that put Donald Trump in office. And if you didn’t vote for Kamala Harris, you helped put Donald Trump in office. I and a lot of people on this platform knew exactly what we were in for with Donald Trump 2.0. But millions of people let perfect be the enemy of the good.

It’s a choice of survival. I’m never going to say the DNC is perfect. Frankly, I think the DNC is worse than the RNC. I’m a Bernie bro from 2016. But when you see a fuckin train coming down the tracks, step off the rails.

Because he told the worst people in the country that he would hurt the people they don’t like.

Honestly that’s it, that the whole thing. There’s nothing deeper than that.

Trump told racists, bigots, evil people that he was going to hurt their enemies, so they voted for him.

Good portion of people don’t give a shit.

I’ve spend the past three years trying to get people to investigate the sexual and physical abuse of children in Oklahoma, including some child trafficking. No one cares or wants to do anything about it. More people than we want to admit are okay with children being raped and abused as long as they are a certain type of child (foster kids usually.)

You’re absolutely correct. From one of the kids in Oklahoma who you were talking about, who was failed hardcore by law enforcement, the courts, the Church, supposed family, fuckin’ everyone… Thank you for recognizing it, believing it, and trying to get shit done about it. A considerable amount of the American general public is criminally ignorant, willfully terrible, or both.
