Watching porn on Pornhub or any other large mainstream porn site (all owned by essentially a monopoly) is being complicit in child abuse and rape. They made money knowingly hosting CSAM and should not be allowed to be in business. Even the stuff that involves people who are of age is often trafficked Eastern European women.

You understand that people on 4chan make stuff up when breaking news happens? It’s a time honored tradition to find a random picture of a trans woman every time a school shooting happens and say it is her. You’re doing the equivalent of going to Stormfront or Alex Jones for breaking news.

I’ve emphasized the last one more than everything else, and it’s only ended up hurting me. Feels like I would be happier if I could feel “good” working a 9-5 that didn’t help anyone. Teaching is the kind of thing that slowly kills you.

I saw my grandma a few weeks ago and gave her a small embroidery project. It felt a little silly and childish but she taught me to sew, and I guess I wanted her to see that it’s something I’ve kept up with.

I’m probably not going to have kids, which I really hate, but I’ve taught lots of kids to sew, so maybe that’s close to this.

My first year teaching I was encouraged to do everything on the chromebooks, because the district wanted to save on printing costs.

If you have 100+ students, and are limited to 500 pages/month (I could print 500 more, but had to purchase my own paper…), you have to use the laptops.

Also, when parents and students increasingly treat attendance as a suggestion, keeping up with paper assignments is hellish. There were days I showed up with 1/3 or more of my class missing - with online class work, I at least could say “the work is available online.”

The technology is a problem, but it’s a problem that’s arisen because class sizes are out of control and admin has zero idea what is going on in the classroom. It’s a bandage that’s been left on so long the skin is starting to get infected around it.

The big thing is just not comparing it to female circumcision. Both are fucked up, but female circumcision is done explicitly to destroy sexual function. It’s rare for male circumcision to go so wrong that all sexual function is lost, but that’s the goal of female circumcision.

With antivaxx though - I think that’s a “your rights end where mine begin” kind of issue. Some moron shitting themselves to death because they think milk tastes better without the poop germs boiled out can take themselves out, but I have a sibling who can’t get certain vaccines/some vaccines are less effective. I think he has the right to not be exposed to easily preventable diseases.
