I guess I was too vague in my response. A more clear way to put what I said would be: I recognize that the circumstances in which they chose to collaborate with their oppressor was complex and for this reason I do not hate them. As an example I view them in the same way I view Israeli collaborators in Gaza. As a result whatever happens to these people is not that important to me.
Every day I wonder if it would be better to die than continue to be kept alive by it. I only haven’t because I’d rather the people responsible be the ones dying. Willful collaboration is murder. These people don’t have my ire, their circumstances were awful and I do understand how that can push someone to do awful things but they don’t have my sympathy either. I was unbothered when Hamas shot Israeli collaborators and I will ramain unbothered.

Technically it was college but I am (hopefully) never going to move back in with them because I cannot stand long term exposure.
They were in my highschool english class. They sat next to me during a socratic seminar and was reading a very thick book about medieval torture methods. It was also halloween and they were wearing scary clown makeup. I had already been crushing on them since the school year had started but this was the cherry on top. We’ve been together 6 years now.
Our beloved cat was found as a kitten with a broken leg in a grocery store parking lot. My partner’s sister found her but couldn’t keep her because she already had quite a few cats. She knew we were already considering getting a cat so she brought her over to meet us. Genuinely love at first sight. Her name is Bean and she is the most precious little baby.
