Swear to god buying a skateboard right now would totally help me stay in shape. Ok maybe roller blades?

Never mind that I just broke my big toe. As a totally sober adult.

Yeah I was recently discouraged from roller blading and was told that it’s a broken hip waiting to happen. It was the first time anyone had told me something like that.

Any physical activity is a broken jawn waiting to happen. Especially if you are over 30. Be careful, be mindful, wear protective gear.

And buy those blades and hit me up, we can blade together homie.

I skated nearly everyday from age 12-15, then sporadically after that. At around age 30 I was feeling the urge and got a new board. I was at the skatepark wondering if I’m getting too old until I met this guy in his late 40s who had just started a year earlier. Dude had a helmet, knee pads, and shorts with padding on his ass, but had gotten decent at carving the bowl and was trying new shit all the time. He definitely kept me skating longer than I would have otherwise. Though injuries take so long to heal now and being older than a scooter kid’s parent is weird.

During Covid one of my friends was like “you get a skateboard and I’ll get a BMX bike and it’ll be like we’re teenagers again!”

And I’m like, what orthopedic surgeon is paying you to propose this exactly?

Hell I’m a part-time father in my 40s and that’s an extreme sport at this point.
