They have to use their public influence to convince as many (important) people as possible for as long as possible to squeeze as much money as possible. I agree with your sentiment but I like these posts for a strategic reason: Bezos intends for his statements to bolster support, but his strategy is falling flat. Support for AI is either level or declining, and anger over its harm is growing. Bezos reveals the extent to which he is out-of-touch. I think his statements actually inflame opposition to AI: his propaganda is motivating his opponents while leaving his supporters indifferent. When I upvote Bezos quotes, I am thinking to myself, ‘hey everybody, get a load of this asshole!’ I am definitely not upvoting him because I think his claims have merit or that they will convert people to support AI.
