I’m a NSFW author, and I want to try posting some audio readings of my own work in a way that would let me monetize them.
It’s essential that people be able to watch/listen to these for free, which already rules out a lot of the big names in porn monetization like OnlyFans and ManyVids and all their derivatives – since all these stories are already available to read as text for free, I don’t think many people at all are going to pay for a subscription or pay per view just for a reading. Which means I’m looking for somewhere to post them that’s ad-supported and will give me a cut of the ad revenue.

PornHub is an option (I think) that would work for this, but their content rules are a bit too strict when it comes to spicy stuff and would block ~70% of my content if interpreted strictly.
-
Maybe YouTube? Ironically enough, YouTube seems to have less stringent content rules than PornHub – other 3rd party readers have already posted readings of some of my stories on YouTube, and most of those videos haven’t been taken down. I do worry that they wouldn’t be monetizable there, though. As soon as YouTube’s algorithm picks up on a naughty word or two, they might demonetize my videos there, which then defeats the whole point. Plus, Google is gross.

The option of last resort is to post my own independently hosted site, and partner with one or more NSFW-friendly ad network companies to monetize views. That definitely could work, but building it and maintaining it seems like it would be more overhead than I’d like to get into. Sounds like a lot of work … work I’m definitely capable of doing – I’ve built and run websites before – I just don’t really want to if I don’t have to. This approach would also mean little to no ‘accidental’ discovery from new audiences.
Ideally, somebody could just point me to a PornHub alternative that lets me monetize free-to-view videos with ads, but doesn’t have a stick up their ass about (completely fictional) non-con and incest. Or a YouTube alternative that pays creators and doesn’t demonetize videos so aggressively. Somewhere I can direct people to where they can watch it for free, and I get a little money from the ads they see while they do it.
I’ve been searching for such a thing for hours now, but I’m really coming up dry. Search results are dominated by subscription-based sites that are OnlyFans knockoff subscription services or pay-per-view sites where viewers would have to pay to watch each video. But, again, it’s essential that people be able to watch these for free, only monetized through ads.
Does anybody know of a magical place where this could actually be done?
Have you looked into Quinn?
Hadn’t heard of it until now … and even after looking into everything I could, I’m still left with some profound questions:
-
How much do creators there get paid? Do they get anything other than (80% of) the ‘roses’ (tips) given by listeners?
-
What’s their acceptable content policy? What content isn’t allowed?
I can’t find even the vaguest information about either of those two. Are you on Quinn? Maybe you could tell me?
Apparently, you need to go through an application process in order to get into it. Maybe they’d make more details about that stuff available after the application? I’ll keep it in mind, but for now, there are still some pretty big question marks about it.
(And while it is a really good fit and might even drive some discovery by new audiences, it’s also not free for the audience, so not entirely ideal.)
TBH I only know of them from passing, just that that was where most audio-centered adult creators were going

Pornhub or similar for uploads, and see if you can convince some listeners into supporting you via patreon, ko-fi, or similar.
or similar
Yeah … I’d really like to hear about this or similar, though. Any recommendations there? Because ~70% of my stuff is too spicy for PornHub.
Now I’m curious. I’d understand if you wouldn’t be specific, but which kind of “spice” could be refused by PornHub if there’s no image involved?
PornHub’s content rules are all worded as “any depiction of…” so if interpreted strictly (and I have no reason to think they wouldn’t), a lack of images wouldn’t protect me at all.
And as for specifics, it’s mainly the incest and non-con, which they’re very clear are not allowed to depict or even mention, even if it’s entirely fictional or role-play.
If it’s too spicy even for pornhub then it sounds like you might want to look up more… niche platforms. In other words: I don’t know.
I think maybe you’re… ahem …selling yourself short. It might be more difficult in the current economic environment, but I suspect there are enough people who’d be willing to pay for high-quality acting even when the plain text version is free. It’s the immersion in the fantasy that makes it worth it to them. How do you think OF does so well when there’s so much readily accessible free porn out there? Do it right, market it properly (and cost-effectively), and even in this economy (or maybe even because of it) people will still pay to experience their fantasies (or at least escape reality). You just need to commit to doing it well to make it worth them paying for.
ETA: you could also encourage the purchasing of your recordings by including extra content, and/or publishing new stories as an “intro chapter” to get them hooked, and then continuing the adventures in the recordings. The conversion rate would be pretty low, but you’d probably still make more than with your advertising path - which you could still go to by releasing the extra material after some semi-lengthy “exclusivity period.”
True … I suppose that might be an option.
Honestly, I’d be lucky to get half a dozen people who’d actually pay for it … but even such small numbers might end up being more money than the ad-based model would make overall.
