Americans need a little genocide at home imo. Maybe they’ll stop doing it elsewhere once they experience it themselves firsthand.

the usian people are very much like the children of a mafia boss who do not know what their father does for a living, and don’t want to know, but then wonder why someone just threw a firebomb through the living room window.

What I really don’t like is the implication, from the libs, that if the so called “3rd world” showed better optics, that USA would play ball.

And many of the countries did try to play ball. Look where it has landed now… So much for optics.

Looking at it this way, the major losers of the twentieth century were those who believed too sincerely in the existence of a liberal international order, those who trusted too much in democracy, or too much in what the United States said it supported, rather than what it really supported—what the rich countries said, rather than what they did. That group was annihilated.

From what a couple of friends more intertwined in politics said, the optics isn’t for nations generally, but for convincing people that don’t really care about the issue or vote “with their hearts” whatever that means

I suppose there’s some truth to it. It’s very difficult to navigate context in post-modern meme culture. Like the words “Death” and “America” could mean anything depending on the context. It also doesn’t accomplish much if I make fun of an abuser without stepping in to stop them, many radicals say the “right” things and don’t actually do anything. Which is really not much different than someone getting a dopamine rush anything else. So there’s time and place for everything imo.

You can’t say Death to America, that’s a whole continent, maybe even two. You say Death to the USA, or any other derogatory word you prefer using to refer to them.

We should split the difference and make the slogan “Death to Amerikkka” that way nobody will be confused about what we’re referring to.

Sorry for the serious comment (which is not a reply to OP but something I want to share with my fellow audience).

I think there are 3 distinct cases where someone says something and I think, “hey, that’s not fair/true/etc” and feel myself getting defensive. Each case has an appropriate response, in my opinion:

    1. They are not talking about me as an individual, but making sweeping statements - the person isn’t talking to me or about me as an individual, no one is asking for my response or thoughts so I can just move on with my life. Maybe the sweeping statement helps me understand my role in systemic oppression (like by simply being north american) and I can reflect on that, but typically it’s more of an awareness/learning thing and not actionable until I learn/reflect more.

    2. Same as 1 but + I am not the intended audience - not everything is about me or for me. The intended audience probably has some context I am missing and even if they don’t no one cares what my take is, so again just let it go.

    3. If they are speaking about me in particular they are a) either right and I’m reacting with guilt or shame, b) having some misunderstanding and we need to come together to solve the conflict or c) someone I have no relationship/community/duty to and no benefit comes from trying to resolve so I can also just let it go.

americans’ collective disregard for thier government admitting to such extreme evils is a comedy enough and of the divine kind.

i’m not religious, but i sometimes with i were true so that those evil people committing those acts and then lying about it would meet their comeuppance.

How did people take this so seriously, especially on a meme community?

“Poe’s law is an adage of Internet culture which says that, without a clear indicator of the author’s intent, any parodic or sarcastic expression of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of those views.”

        (Gore?)

There is an urban legend saying he claimed to have invented the internet. What actually happened was that he was asked in a 1999 interview how he was different from other candidates and replied: “During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. […]”. He was probably referring to legislative efforts.
