To be honest, I think we’re losing credibility. I don’t know what else to put in the description.
I’m all for politicized jobs and hobbies getting replaced with AI, if I’m being honest. Anyone who pushes a political, religious, or economic agenda while doing something completely unrelated to those three things specifically, needs to be replaced by those who augment with AI tools.
Hey that’s literally everyone, you know that right? “Political” doesn’t just mean the people you disagree with—everything is political. If you’re trying to be “apolitical” it just means you’re pushing for the political status quo, which is a political position.
Unless you’re working with a private definition of political, it’s all politics when you go past the surface level.
Slight tangent, but I see the “GPT hyphen” that is used in academic papers etc, and was wondering if your comment was generated or “human”? I hope that’s okay to ask, I was hoping to learn a bit about picking up on “real” vs generated text. :)
Pure curiosity on my part, but given the discussion, I thought it interesting to ask if my detection of AI text needs updating! :)
The —? Yeah, GPT uses it frequently because it was used in a lot of the papers it was trained on. All of my stuff is just me talking xD I don’t run it through AI first, it’s an extra step I don’t feel I need

it’s called a dash 😭 One way I usually can tell it’s AI or human is to see if there’s spaces surrounding the longer (—, “em dash”) dash. I find AI often puts spaces there while humans often don’t.
It caught me out once - I said “oh it’s probably AI” because of it, and got a reply saying that it was someone who wrote using them long before LLM nonsense. :) I’ve now gone with “oh it’s ai, unless it’s that nice Lemmy user” as my rule of thumb.
