I’m just not convinced that the technology isn’t part of the problem. All of these machines are designed to give a you an instant dopamine rush when you use them. I think they have a real and detrimental effect on attention span.

Fascists are feeling emboldened now. Our hateful narcissism behind the authoritarian punishment of minorities and poor people is finally catching up to us. I’m not saying everyone getting hurt by it deserves it, however as a country we’ve been building toward this, enthusiastically, for a long time.

It’s going to take generational leadership to unfuck all of this and I don’t see that happening. We need a parallel justice system that operates solely to hold our bullshit legal system accountable. No one will want to do that until it’s too late. But it’s crazy how we just let the courts, cops and politicians all work together to fuck us over and exact state violence against us with no repercussions.

I find it hard to take people seriously when they start their argument off with gold too. Gold is no different from fiat currency. It’s only worth as much as people think it is. Historically it wasn’t even used for anything practical. It’s one of my smell tests for people who have bad critical thinking skills, quite frankly. If fiat currency was such a terrible idea then the whole world would be in far worse shape than it is.
