There are two hard problems in computer programming:

2. Naming things

I think you’re really asking who is to blame. And I’m not so sure that’s the same question, or even a useful question.

They are responsible for their situation and they are victims of circumstance. These are not mutually exclusive.

Generally, a preliminary injunction will be called for if the action is harmful and irreversible, if delaying it while the question is resolved wouldn’t cause significant problems for the party being sued, and if the requesting party is likely to win the lawsuit anyway.

The lunch arrangements will vary greatly by age/grade level. A high school is more likely to have the canteen style while an elementary school is more likely to have the cafeteria style. In either case, bringing a lunch from home is also reasonably common.

To be fair, there are important differences between open source and closed source software.

I started using a white noise machine and fans on high when I lived down the block from a hospital emergency room. It sounded like a jet engine in my bedroom, but my brain learned to interpret the white noise as profound silence. I moved away from the hospital zone but still use the white noise to sleep.

I’m curious how it’s considered a “layoff” if it’s based on performance rather than the job itself being eliminated.
