Hunting. I really don’t get how killing animals can be seen as a hobby like any others.

I disagree with the premise. Living somewhere should entitled you to vote at least in local elections.
E: and if you don’t reside somewhere, neither should you vote there
Where I live too, there are too many deers, but I suspect hunters to let it happen. If they really wanted to, that wouldn’t be a problem since a long time. And they lobby local authorities for they let it go, despite forestry people’s complaints (deers are a calamity to trees).
Their meat is not even that good, or let’s say I wouldn’t like to eat deer meat all year long.
