istg these imbeciles are going to get me to self host my own email server.
white hairs here i fucking come.

This current iteration of AI would not be possible without big tech. If you actually thought about it for more than five minutes you would realize you cannot reconcile those two and still see LLMs as “just a tool”. Sit on that one for a minute. Utilitarianism rots your brain.

Appeal to authority. Linus was always a fucking moron.

A calculator isn’t a sycophant text extruder offered by megacorps via predatory tactics and doesn’t require half a little of water to operate last time I checked

Yeah dude licking corporate boot is so based

“come on bro you’re just holding it wrong”

Hell, even if you don’t have a dedicated IP (where I live they don’t hand you one unless you’re a business) that’s pretty easy to sort out if your registrar has an API for updating DNS zones.
Moved all of my services from a shitty VPS to an old laptop a couple weeks ago and everything’s been pretty comfy so far.

semi-offtopic, i wrote a custom client since ddclient doesn’t work for non-eu ovhcloud accounts, hmu if you need it and i’ll polish it a bit and publish it. homelab has been working great with it so far.

put ddclient on that baby, have it update your dns records and you’ll have a portable server. absolutely cursed. you’re welcome.

Not the person you’re replying to, but
There are no shortages of evidence showing heavy LLM usage causing cognitive decline.
Likewise, if we accept anecdotal evidence, many users report losing understanding of their codebase after letting an LLM do substantial changes for them. Architecture drift is a common problem, too.
LLMs are trained on public code, much of it subpar, so it stands to reason that they are prone to regurgitating security vulnerabilities.
I am not including the plethora of ethical issues with LLMs, which I assume you do not care about coming from a purely utilitarian although short-sighted perspective.
fuck gatekeepers. the linux kernel doesn’t deserve new, talented people bringing fresh, useful and modern approaches to the project; their time and effort is only wasted there. i know it’s not right, but part of me wishes linux rots and something better takes its place.
bitterness aside, i hope marcan gets the rest he needs. i wish him the best.
noted, thank you.
while we’re here, any other tips i should keep in mind? what’s your stack (if you don’t mind sharing)?
