Hell yeah, thanks!

Hell yeah, thanks!

Ooo, feel like selling me on it?

Probably more of a “Highlander” scenario

Agreed, but we should include studying the precise wrong things, meaning conclusions drawn about how the world works - and with their own charming dedication, if describing how that time is spent.
Mustn’t forget HR typically is quite competent, just not at things we easily identify (because that’s an inherent component of their competence).

And yet oddly (and predictably, and likely disastrously, etc. -) some HR departments are among the very first to glibly upload their (our) everything’s into constantly shifting unreliable AI “products”. Not speaking hypothetically 😐
Funny stuff, that.

All jokes aside, what I’m seeing is that folks basically cannot hire competent DevOps (well, not for the idiot rates we’re apparently offering).
There is gold in them thar hills…

Please don’t be ridiculous! We love wacky robot wizard. Wacky robot wizard does it even better than the people we tried paying almost nothing to do it!

So much of what he does is so intentionally manufactured - very odd intentions and ideas about what to manufacture, just to say that briefly - that I have to believe he thought it would land well, advantageously in his permanently self-aggrandizing way - the several times he’s said this and similar stuff.
Which, after a little inspection, gives us such a weird tiny window both into what he thinks impresses people…but to a vaguer degree, by proxy, what does impress the people who he historically has always sucked up to.
This specific weird brag he did always stuck out to me as uniquely vile, at first I saw it as merely stupid and amazingly tone deaf (first very surprising campaign, IIRC), but there was something else there I couldn’t quite put my finger on, and it’s this. I think we have to acknowledge it’s always revealed something much, much worse.
How many times have we heard the ways “they” all truly feel, and recoiled at the base lowness of it, projected uniquely, confidently, smugly - out of their grotesque messiah’s mouth? He’s not uniquely vile. He’s uniquely vocal, about it, and that’s all.
[Edit: “they”, just above, of course means the terminally deranged, unsalvageable minds we call “elites”, it doesn’t mean Republicans, voters, any other groups of humans - hope that’s obvious but I prefer clarity]

Oh gotcha. My bad that was clear to me going in, def a whoosh

Sadly you’re almost certainly right, at least eventually.

Feel like elaborating any? Looks like pretty over-the-top satire at a glance, but I’d always rather hear from people than read docs, “search things up” (for fuck’s sake lol), etc.

I don’t think that’s what ya mean with “false flag”, that’s a little specific (could also be me missing your point of course).
But hard agree. Even despite this, it looks good, sure - but let time earn trust, it will find it if there’s any to be found.
Until then - nonetheless, I say reward the moves that look like “we don’t need you”, to fascists. It ain’t much but it’s something.

Oddly enough this positions Anthropic as the sole big player in the (seriously disastrously) complicit landscape of roughly ALL large tech I’m aware of, to say nothing of AI, willing to refuse, and do so publicly, over something that matters, while that thing invites big $$$.
I hate to say this, but this really should be (tentatively, but ideally dramatically) rewarded.
Like a large scared dog, on a leash, in a yard with a bunch of even bigger ones. Ones with leashes held by something permanently unreliable, and all the dogs know it.
And Anthropic is the only one that does the “play bow”. And we don’t get to leave the yard.
What we do get is bad, and big, choices to be made.

Seems like his career has largely been lying and making impossible promises, so. The folks who do that well always manage to exit the stage before the magic tincture is revealed to just be piss 🤷♂️

I definitely can’t comment on what your situation looks like to you directly, but where I live, I find your description of nothing but “lil Istanbuls” in the “inner cities” to sound super suspicious. Gross, honestly.
In the US that’s roughly the exact sentiment (not far from exact words, truly!) that the most egregious Trump supporters spew everywhere they can. To be clear, these folks rarely visit a city in any capacity and will often tell stories for weeks when they do. All the while getting themselves worked up enough to collect legitimate small arsenals (not hypothetical “har har, Americans”, I’ve known many people young and old like this).
I dunno. I can’t see what it looks like from your eyes, fundamentally. But are you sure you’re as unwelcome as you think in the immigrant shops, or even shopping areas/neighborhoods? I randomly pop into whatever vaguely or strongly “ethnic” shop or restaurant and never have a bad time. Pretty often have some fantastic times! Just go shop there and let yourself be (a little) vulnerable and clueless, is the advice I’d give my lost warped countrymen.
Sounds like you’re describing a different desired experience, I don’t mean to be TOO reductive, but idk. Cultural integration can work both ways, it’s fun and dope to learn and enjoy what other people like, might be my single favorite experience on Earth 🤙

Dad of girls myself and have experienced (and helped support my family through) a loss that felt similarly severe, when I was kinda too young to do so. Nothing you could say would bother or surprise me (at least not too much), so - with all sincerity, feel free to drop this random Internet stranger (me) a line anytime. Can be literally about anything, I don’t know you and promise to never judge, no matter what you say. There is nothing about what you’re going through that invites sanity, wellness, reasonableness, etc.
Good friend of mine is facing similar, on an unknown but not great timescale. It’s rough out here. I’ve got some gas in the tank for now. Holla if ya wanna, don’t feel any obligation, but don’t talk yourself out of it for silly fruitless reasons either, I guess I mean.
Edit: and if me DMing you first and laying out some credibility on my own story helps you get the ball rolling, I can sum that up too. Again just saying, there’s enough barriers in life, no need to introduce false ones (unless they’re helpful, anyway).

Yeah that’s probably an important point and I should be slower to phrase things like I’m speaking for teachers en masse.
Frankly the public school system is largely babysitting so adults can work and has been for a while, no reason we couldn’t reorganize that to function better. Well. There are reasons. Just not good ones.
Edit: ya know what, I really just springboarded off of your thought to deliver my own half-related frustration. Even without needing to change money in big ways, there could be large improvements from reworking the schedule. Certainly for students’ ability to retain any info. Thoroughly agree with you and apologies for the unneeded slightly off topic bummer vibe.

Sadly because the rich would never allow it to be funded, so it was never a serious possibility, and summers off is among (or the sole?) thing keeping many many educators hanging on at this stage.
Make no mistake, far as I’m concerned they should all get probably 100% raises no bulshit, and anyone who was at it throughout COVID should get some kinda large thank you bonus too.

It doesn’t help that the state of schooling and instruction here has grown abysmal, largely non-functional.
Kids, on average, aren’t learning shit here.
While “preparing for” and entering the economy of today and tomorrow. Things are grim.
picks furiously at a Taylor GS Mini
I don’t think this is shredding :(
Haha nah I’m an ancient metalhead, put the ol axe down many years ago, but now the lil one suddenly wants to learn. Thing you shared is gonna do us a real treat, just the thing we needed!
(Sidenote, this little Taylor is exactly the thing for this, what a lovely little instrument)
