Not the cameras are the problem, the American way is the problem.

I feel like you are overlooking the fact, that Australia GOT invaded by the Brits. The isolation did not protect them. It slowed down the change between them and others. Cultural, economic and technical exchanged helped many countries. Change often has a negative side to it, but I think the “gradual” change of exchange is more welcome than the sudden change of invasion.

As an outsider I can only hope that

a) Trump would never do something that benefits others

and

b) That Trump is that unpopular, that he would lose a third term

and

c) Americans become a more french when being unhappy with the ruling party
