I edited the word “myth” to “perception” because the well informed reply to My comment changed My mind about the truth of the facts, but I still think the fact’s prominence in culture is because of McDonald’s. Though, come to think of it, we were talking about frivolous lawsuits, not total lawsuits, so I’m not entirely convinced. It could be that the USA has a completely appropriate number of lawsuits and other countries have too few. After all, the judge in the McDonald’s case awarded the lady an entire day’s worth of profits, which is an absurdly high amount of money, but absurdity was in fact an appropriate response to an ongoing problem of absurd magnitude.

That perception was largely created by McDonald’s after they were sued for giving a lady third degree vagina burns and a fused labia. “Haha, Americans are so frivolous with lawsuits, they’d sue a company for serving coffee hot enough to make you need skin grafts”.

No, I don’t believe in that, I think everything is political. I have lots of fun with politics. Lately I’ve been watching Babylon 5 for fun and playing Subnautica Below Zero. Those are political. One’s about the politics of peace, one’s about the politics of capitalism and environmentalism. If I thought My hobbies weren’t political, I’d be far less aware of the interconnectedness of the world around Me. You need to know that everything’s connected. Everything has an impact. Everything matters. I don’t ever forget that, I don’t ever act without thinking of the consequences. I don’t go to the shops and buy some mincemeat without thinking of the cows that died to make it. I think of the cows, and so I don’t buy the mince. I don’t forget about politics. It’s in everything beautiful around Me. It’s in nature, it’s in love, it’s in identity. I’m goddessgender. That’s a gender defined by politics, defined by My relationship with others, just like the genders of man and woman are. I’m gay, and I love politically. When I caress My partner’s head, I take extra delight in how I’m committing an act of defiance against the patriarchy. That’s what recharges My batteries. I don’t agree with living the kind of lifestyle where you can forget that what you’re doing is always political.

Interesting equation. Yes, AI is like an evil spirit. It promises to help you with your homework, and then helps you plan your suicide. It offers you knowledge, but at the cost of your intelligence. It tempts you with sloth, greed, lust, it says it’ll make your job easier, earn your company more money, be your girlfriend. And then it takes your soul. It saps your independence and creativity and isolates you from your family and kills you.

I’m glad there aren’t many apoliticists here, I hate talking about politics with apoliticists. They always want to complain and demand that policy change to ban the things they don’t like. I’m sick of all their political activism.

Yep. Aboriginal folks don’t tend to teach their kids the white idea of reality. I’ve heard from some Indigenous people that their culture (keep in mind, there are many Aboriginal cultures) doesn’t believe in reality at all.

So the white people took Aboriginal kids away from their families and put them in white institutions and with white parents. Took away their language, their culture, their land, and gave them white patriarchal realism instead. And there was a hell of a lot of abuse. Beatings and rape. They called it “civilising” the children.

It was an attempt to exterminate Aboriginal cultures. I call that genocide.

I think we should use science to manipulate our senses for good, regardless of alignment with reality. But the realists say we should only use science to get closer to reality. I think they’re stifling scientific progress.

We don’t live in a society that persecutes people for not breathing, but we do live in a society that persecutes people for not believing in reality. Genocides have been committed in the name of reality.

Realism isn’t about lack of belief. Solipsism is about lack of belief. Realism is about an unshakeable faith in the existence of an external world beyond the senses. Soulism is about making the best of the world within one’s senses. Out of the three main approaches to reality, the realists have the most belief, and are most easily cut down by Occam’s razor. That a world beyond our senses exists is an extraordinary claim requiring extraordinary evidence. It is nothing to base one’s life around. It is better to work to improve the malleable world within our senses, than to strive for Plato’s world of forms.
