1·5 months agoI’m not entirely familiar with the process, but I think Goldberg uses steam architecture, but replaces calls to steam servers with locally emulated ones. And I think Steamless emulates the DRM check locally, to spoof the call to steam servers. Neither tool requires internet or active steam servers to run. If the internet disappeared tomorrow, as long as I had my game library downloaded, and the latest version of those two tools installed, I could play all my games forever. Of course, I still prefer to buy my games as physical copies or offline installers from GoG, but you kinda have to go where the games are.

5·5 months agoYou aren’t wrong, that’s why I use Goldberg/steamless to keep my library of steam games safe, even if steam shits the bed

13·5 months agoI don’t use the internet for much these days, but I am on graphine OS and I have yet to be blocked from websites due to it. My adblocker prevents me from some, and not allowing javascript prevents me from some, but I’ve never seen that QR code or had any site prompt fro Google play services

Explain how it’s evil to allow the US companies to move their production out of the US? The US corporations could have kept industry here, but they decided to fuck themselves over so that a few shareholders’ margins went up by a few percentage points. That wasn’t China being malicious, that’s the US lacking any sense of foresight while being blinded by greed.

It has to do with how LLMs work. Put much, much too simply, to arrive at a response, they use weighted vectors (a line that conveys magnitude and direction) to find the next token that best follows the one before it.
