After Democrats’ historic victory, why is this how Hakeem Jeffries is responding?
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries isn’t interested in seeking impeachment charges against President Donald Trump.
Speaking on MS NOW’s Morning Joe Wednesday, Jeffries laid out his priorities for his party’s newfound leadership in the House of Representatives.
“The American people don’t want us to get even. They want us to get things done on their behalf because life is way too expensive,” Jeffries said.
There it is, folks. The Democratic party apathy we knew would come.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we have some check and balances back. But anyone who thinks things will turn around in January need look no further than this one comment.

Holding them to the law isn’t getting even. It’s not revenge.

So let me get this straight. They shit on our right to due process, they throw people into camps without said due process, they kill people in broad daylight. But there is no priority for impeachment or justice…

He can NOT be allowed to be speaker. He is beholden to AIPAC, not the people of America.
Justice, and an end to the corruption isn’t “getting even”. Get this guy out of there, primary him if you have to! Voters are done…
Accountability, motherfucker! Accountability means hearings, investigations, and prosecutions.
Do popular, affordability-focused legislation as well, but accountability is part of what America told you to get on yesterday.

Why was he not primaried?
Chi Osse tried to primary him, but the DSA declined to endorse him because they felt Jeffries had basically infinite money to spend and that Osse kicking out the majority leader would have a damaging effect on the Democratic party.
And, yes, Mamdani and AOC were vocal in their support of Jeffries over Osse. Because we can’t have nice things.
Short answer: party > Americans
He’s unfortunately liked in his district, so DSA opted to focus on other seats, which they were mostly successful with.
So it took people only one day to realize Democratic party is still run by “Republicans Light”. Impressive.
