The cold by itself does not affect calories, if you are sufficiently clothed.
If you are exposed to the point of actively shivering, you might burn something like 100-200 calories per hour. HOWEVER, you would succumb to hypothermia and die.
If you are talking about performing heavy labour, you could perhaps double your daily needs. But 10,000 calories is still wildly unlikely and anyone needing 10,000 calories per day is probably going to die quickly from that much exertion.
-40
-40°F or -40°C? Trick question, of course, as those are equal. heh. Unless you mean -40° Kelvin, in which case you have other problems like possibly breaking the laws of the universe.
Consuming a day’s worth of calories in one meal while consuming other meals is why many in the world are obese.
You’re not wrong there.
But -40 will burn you up so fast. I was constantly hungry.

You got a giggle out of me.
Yeah I did physical labor in the winter, so it was gamble of staying warm and not too warm.
But labour was the important bit for increased caloric needs. The average office worker would need much closer to the standard amount. :)
Agreed. I notice how much less I need to consume now, it’s kind of nice. I still stock up the fridge for a long winter out of habit lol
