Russia will dispatch its first tanker with diesel for the United States on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, according to the Vedomosti news outlet, after a deal with Donald Trump.

Russia lifted its self-imposed ban on diesel exports on October 9, introduced to tackle domestic shortages triggered by Ukrainian drone attacks on refineries, after reaching the deal with Trump to supply diesel to global markets.

Novak said on Wednesday the vessel will carry 40,000 metric tons of the fuel, adding that the paperwork on the fuel supply is nearing its completion, according to media reports. He did not name the port from which the cargo will be delivered.

The spit in the ocean amount of diesel that Russia is sending us prior to the election to paste over the GOP tanking of the economy will hopefully not work. Fuck Putin and fuck Trump and all his myopic cronies.

Yeah, I really don’t think people grasp the scale of the numbers here.

40,000 tonnes is about 300,000 barrels. The US uses, in a day, about 3.5 to 4.5 million barrels. This is less than 10% of one day of consumption.

And if the corporate media didn’t want to make every election into a horse race for ratings, they may have chosen to say that part front and center. The whole thing is such a ridiculous PR facade. EDIT: Forgive me if there are corporate media entities that are centering the reporting on this story as such, but I have not seen it.

It won’t work. This isn’t winning anybody. It won’t affect prices and people hate it, even a lot of conservatives.

It won’t change prices at all.

But it gives them a working premise that eventually enough will come to effect prices.

What’s really going to hurt is harvesting, because many states opened up red diesel for red use already. One of the big reason it’s separated from the rest of the supply is to control prices. When there’s less, the price goes up. They can’t counter that without buying more diesel, dying it red, and selling at a loss.

This is just the thiniest excuse for people to ignore this one issue and still vote Republican.

      It’s a total desperation move.

Red diesel just means it has no road taxes applied

I don’t many people are using it. AFAIK, only states were lifting the restriction, which they technically can’t do since it includes federal taxes

Also that dye is designed to be visible for a very long time. I used red diesel in my heater once last winter and the red is still visible even though I’ve gone through a dozen tanks of kerosene since

          …

Red diesel is diesel saved for agriculture use…

It’s dyed red, to show that’s what it’s for.

Now, I answered a question without you even asking one, please answer one I’m asking:

What did you think the point of saying it red was?

The US uses, typically, over 200,000 tons of diesel every day - to give everyone an idea of what Trump sells our allies out for.

America is like a crack addict but with oil. Break into your house and steal your shit. Rob people on the street. Lie, cheat, extort, and murder to get it. And sell out friends and step on friends in need to get it.

The USD is pegged to Oils spot price and and the Saudi Riyad is pinned to the USD. All countries have to buy US dollars to purchase and settle oil transactions. The global economy is petrodollars and has been since the 70s.

Given that the UK has been siezing any and all oil tankers coming out of Russia, they have the opportunity to do the funniest thing right now.

Britain has siezed one tanker, and assisted France with siezing one other. I think Russia may have more than two.

Considering how hard the Ukraine has been hitting Russia’s oil infrastructure, who wants to bet it’s oil from Iran?
