lol, so much for a project that has “No Weird Politics.” as a core set of idea in the very first paragraph of its README.

      That’s way too tame… I fear it won’t attract 8M in funding.

Jokes aside, the Christian commandments are quite lacking (insufficient) when it comes to contemporary morals… eg. there’s nothing forbidding discrimination or violence (short of homicide) or slavery or corruption or torture or neglicence etc. (and this is if one quite generously interprets “your neighbor” as “anybody else”, which is clearly not what the word means and which doesn’t explain why only some of the precepts have this “universal restriction”).

I always find it weird when people cite the commandments as a moral compass without integrating them with (very much necessary) additional prescriptions.

While unusual and on the face of it perhaps not very relevant to a project to develop an operating system, in the context of freely and generously sharing the project, explicitly open to all, including all religions, and a meritocracy, I don’t find sharing one’s sincere beliefs offensive. While the focus might be on computers and software, the open source community is, first and foremost, a community of people with values that lead them to share their work. As long as he is sincere in his beliefs, I respect his promotion of them, even if I don’t entirely agree with them. Better that than the likes of Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Elon Musk and so many others.

You shall have no other gods before Me.

If he is sincere in his beliefs then he won’t be able to follow the “no discrimination based on religion” part of the code.

It’s true, but we’re all conflicted and imperfect. Give him credit for being open to other ideas, despite the conflict.

Qanon. To be fair though, i can’t say for sure he is a Q cause i haven’t looked into his channel too much, but i do know he’s a right wing grifter who uses maga talking points, and maga and qanon kinda go hand in hand.

I mean, surely its a bit tongue in cheek, but following the rules of the ten commandments is something that leads to a somewhat healty community… sooo…

Except the first four is all about how you must follow and obey the Xian god. It’s the last six that are fairly practical, almost to the point of common sense.

Given what I’ve heard of him, I doubt it’s tounge and cheek, sadly.

And as someone who follows the LGBTQI+ community, I’ve seen Christian values lead to really unhealthy communities and atrocities. :P

I’d rather follow the Satanist bible’s rules as they’re even better for communities. And you can mix fabrics!

I thought lunduke was against codes of conduit because of some distorted idea of freedom of speech. Where is my freedom to name Jahvè in vain?

How vain must he be to name an OS after himself.

At least call it LunOS or something. See Debian, which is Deb+Ian, but it at least sounds good and has a sweet backstory. LCOS sounds like an illness (PCOS, anyone?).

I liked the guy way back when but some day he just seemed to become a bit crazy. Made his content unwatchable. What narcissism and trauma does to people…

I sincerely hope he one day gets treatment for his trauma which probably caused the shift in personality, and I hope Bryan will be a healthier and better person one day.

That said, why try an OS by one guy which doesn’t even offer anything above what is already on the market. At least be creative and innovative…
