I use GIMP nearly daily for drawing with my tablet. Overall, it’s adequate, though I agree with a few other comments that the name is terrible. “PhotoShop” is partially popular because it has a (somewhat) descriptive name. “Inkscape” is far better than GIMP.
If it were my call, I’d just go with something simple and descriptive, like “Linux Image Studio” or, like, “GNU Image Studio,” if GNU’s gotta go in there. IMHO, it’s best to not over-think it, tho someone clearly took that approach to get here.
I think this idea of contradiction for its own sake is misguided and has contributed to copious enshittification, particularly on the www.
Obviously, “incestuous amplification” is similarly undesirable, but I’m personally opposed to the notion that a poorly informed counterpoint warrants the same audience as a well-informed point.

These companies keep getting passed around cuz companies want to extract value however they can. But like what do people even want money for? Like OK ppl have to pay for food, sure – you need food to stay alive. Health insurance is up there, too. And then I’m sure housing costs and car insurance costs are essentially unavoidable for most people. So that’s probably ~2k a month… So what all are people buying?

Touching grass is huge. I think of the end of “The Truman Show” often. All these folks are at home watching it on TV. Then, he busts out, and it goes off the air. This guy says to his wife (or something… Maybe she says it), "What else is on?* I feel like we’re roughly there. All these folks are like angry and/or bigoted, etc. But it’s all a fire some company is fanning for money.
